What can I eat?

All the foods on the approved list have been carefully and clinically evaluated by Dr Simeon over years of experimentation.

There are 3 phases:

 Fat loading 

During the first 2 days of the diet you will be fat loading. Consume all the fatty foods that you enjoy but normally avoid, without any guilt or restriction, as this is an essential part of the diet. So whether that is a combination of eggs benedict, avocado, olive oil, pasta with a cream sauce, nuts, cheese, fish and chips, croissant, ice cream, etc, eat to capacity and enjoy for 2 days. The fat loading helps ensure your fat reserves are well stocked, as it takes a couple of days for the hCG to release fat from the fat stores to sustain you. It also helps you feel only minimally hungry as you adjust to the diet in the first few days of Phase 2.

Phase 2

The weight loss protocol is extremely effective for rapid and safe weight loss but it is imperative that you consume only the approved foods below, along with the hCG drops.

Proteins: 100 grams /3.5 oz of the following proteins, weighed raw:

  • Chicken breast
  • White Fish, or occasionally tuna in spring water.
  • Shellfish (shrimp, crab, prawn, lobster)
  • Beef, without any visible fat.
  • Veal
  • One whole egg and the whites of three eggs. A maximum of twice a week.

Alternative proteins are also available for vegetarians.

Vegetables:

  • Lettuce
  • Roquette /Rocket/Arugula
  • Spinach
  • Chicory, Endives or Radicchio
  • Chard/Silverbeet
  • Bok Choy
  • Cabbage
  • Beet greens
  • Asparagus
  • Tomatoes
  • Cucumbers
  • Fennel
  • Celery
  • White or Red onions
  •  Leeks
  • Red radishes 

Fruits:

You can eat 2 servings of fruit daily.

  • 1 medium apple
  • 1 medium orange
  • 1/2 a grapefruit or 6-8 segments of pomelo
  • 8-10 handful of strawberries

Snack

  • 1-2 piece of Melba toast (depending on size) or 2 Grissini breadsticks

Phase 3 Maintenance

During this 3 weeks period, you can’t eat any carbohydrates or sugar but you can eat a greater variety and quantity of food.  This period is required to remove all the hCG from your body and is crucial to help stabilise your weight and raise your metabolism to an optimal level.
